State report card
Florida grades every public school A to F on the share of possible points it earns on the measures in the state’s 2026 school grades file: test scores, learning gains and, for high schools, graduation and college and career acceleration. The file sets a C for high schools at 45% to 59% of points.
| School year | Grade |
|---|---|
| 2025-26 | C (55% of possible points) |
| 2024-25 | C |
| 2023-24 | C |
From the same file, the share of students scoring on grade level on the state tests in 2025-26:
- English language arts: 43%
- Math: 38%
- Science: 54%
- Social studies: 64%
The file gives a graduation rate of 94% for 2024-25, and 68% on college and career acceleration (students earning credit through programs such as AP, IB, AICE, dual enrollment or industry certifications).

The technical high school plan
The district has recommended turning Boca Ciega into a technical high school, in its Planning for Progress recommendation of Sept. 10. The School Board votes at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13. As proposed:
- 2027-28 is a planning year, and the technical high school opens in 2028-29, with career and technical pathways built on the existing Center for Wellness and Medical Professions.
- Students zoned for Boca Ciega stay zoned for it, with athletics and activities. A student who does not want the technical school would get a bus to a designated traditional high school starting in 2028-29.
- The fundamental program stops taking new students in 2027-28 and phases out over three years.
- Azalea Middle would move into Building 4 on the campus in 2027-28, with its own address.
The district’s Oct. 6 summary says the Boca Ciega zone “will have minor changes.” Check an address in the proposed zone locator.
