State report card
Florida grades every public school A to F on the share of possible points it earns on the measures in the state’s 2026 school grades file: test scores, learning gains and, for middle schools, the share of students passing high school courses or industry certifications. The file sets an A for middle schools at 64% of points or more, so Bay Point reached it exactly.
| School year | Grade |
|---|---|
| 2025-26 | A (64% of possible points) |
| 2024-25 | B |
| 2023-24 | C |
From the same file, the share of students scoring on grade level on the state tests in 2025-26:
- English language arts: 48%
- Math: 59%
- Science: 49%
- Social studies: 81%
The middle school acceleration figure was 81%. The full report card is on the state’s Florida school report cards site.
Becoming a K-8
On Feb. 24, 2026, the School Board approved merging Bay Point Elementary and Bay Point Middle into one K-8 school on the middle school campus for 2027-28, according to the district’s Planning for Progress page. The district’s January plan said the elementary campus would be leased to a community partner. Projected enrollment for the K-8 is 764 students in a building with room for 1,274.
- Name: the board is set to vote on a name Tuesday, Oct. 13. The district received 206 qualifying suggestions; more than 100 included “Bay Point,” according to its Oct. 6 workshop presentation.
- Magnet: the K-8 will host a Center for Emerging Technologies, with robotics, coding and leadership, according to the school’s new K-8 page. Families apply through Focus during the Jan. 5-15, 2027, window. A Discovery Night is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, and tours run Tuesdays at 8:45 a.m. through December.
- Separate proposal, up for a vote Oct. 13: the Azalea Middle recommendation would move a small part of the Bay Point Middle zone to Azalea and move Bay Point’s medical pathway to Azalea for 2028-29.
