Enrollment and teachers
The federal NCES directory counted 1,684 students in the 2024-25 school year, with 82 full-time-equivalent classroom teachers. That is about 21 students per teacher. The year before, the count was 1,762.
The state’s 2026 grades file lists 69.1% of the school’s students as economically disadvantaged.
State report card
Florida grades every public school A to F on the share of possible points it earns on the measures in the state’s 2026 school grades file: test scores, learning gains and, for high schools, graduation and college and career acceleration. The file sets an A for high schools at 65% of points or more, so Northeast cleared the line exactly.
| School year | Grade |
|---|---|
| 2025-26 | A (65% of possible points) |
| 2024-25 | B |
| 2023-24 | B |
From the same file, the share of students scoring on grade level on the state tests in 2025-26:
- English language arts: 58%
- Math: 46%
- Science: 76%
- Social studies: 77%
The file gives a graduation rate of 99% for 2024-25, and 71% on college and career acceleration (students earning credit through programs such as AP, IB, AICE, dual enrollment or industry certifications).

Attendance zone and feeder schools
Check any address with the district’s School Zone Locator, or see the district’s high school zoning map. Zones do not follow city limits.
Of the 153,244 St. Petersburg address points in Pinellas County’s address layer, 28,750 (18.8%) fall inside the Northeast zone on that map. An address point can be a house, an apartment or a business.
The district does not publish a feeder list. Comparing its zoning maps (the middle and high school maps it posts were first drawn for 2012-13; the elementary map is for 2026-27), the St. Petersburg addresses in the Northeast zone fall in these zones:
- Middle school: Meadowlawn Middle (100%).
- Elementary school: Shore Acres (30%), Sawgrass Lake (22%), Lynch (20%), John M. Sexton (16%) and North Shore (12%).
The Northeast zone itself does not change under the district’s Planning for Progress recommendations, which the School Board votes on at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13. Its elementary schools would:
- John M. Sexton Elementary would close at the end of 2026-27, with its zone split between Lynch Elementary to the north and Woodlawn Elementary to the south. At its Oct. 6 workshop, the board also looked at an alternative that keeps Sexton open and closes Woodlawn instead.
- Lynch and Sawgrass Lake would trade a small area of their zones in 2027-28.
Programs
The district’s 2026-27 magnet guide lists these Northeast programs, which students apply to during the district’s application window, Jan. 5-15, 2027, for 2027-28:
