Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg’s Mexican restaurants follow the city’s main roads. Downtown and Central Avenue have Red Mesa Cantina, Red Mesa Mercado, Poppo’s Taqueria and a Casita Taqueria in the Grand Central District. 4th Street runs from Nueva Cantina on the south side past Chipotle, Qdoba, Tijuana Flats and Red Mesa on the north side, and the Tyrone area on the west side has Wicked Cantina, Torchy’s Tacos and a Grand Hacienda.

How we made this list. We started from OpenStreetMap records inside St. Petersburg’s city limits, the same records that feed our local directory, and checked each place against its own website on Oct. 11, 2026. We added places the map missed from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s restaurant license records and checked each address against the U.S. Census Bureau’s city-limits map, so Kenneth City, Lealman and St. Pete Beach restaurants are left out. Food trucks are not listed. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. A place can write to us to correct its entry.

The places

Casa 28 Mexican Grill, 2325 28th St. N. A family Mexican restaurant that also caters birthday, holiday and corporate parties. It is closed Monday.

Casita Taqueria, 2663 Central Ave., 2701 4th St. N and 2991 66th St. N. A local taqueria with three St. Pete restaurants and its own taco menu. All three are closed Sunday, and the 66th Street restaurant is also closed Monday.

Chipotle, four restaurants. The burrito chain’s downtown store on 4th Street North stays open to 11:59 p.m.; the others close at 11 p.m.

Grand Hacienda, 399 11th Ave. N and 2424 Tyrone Blvd. N. A Tampa Bay Mexican restaurant group whose site says its food is made from scratch daily and offers a catering menu. Its site does not post hours.

Nueva Cantina, 1625 4th St. S. A Mexican restaurant with sister locations in Tampa and Palm Harbor. It runs a weekday afternoon taco deal from 2 to 6 p.m.

Pepe’s Cantina, 3118 3rd Ave. N. A Central Florida Mexican grill chain; its St. Pete restaurant takes reservations through its site.

Red Mesa, 4912 4th St. N. The original restaurant of the local Red Mesa group, with a daily menu, a La Fonda menu and a bar menu. It opens at 10:30 a.m. on weekends. The group’s downtown Red Mesa Cantina and Red Mesa Mercado both hold current state food licenses; their sites would not load for us.

Taco Bell, six restaurants. The Tex-Mex chain posts the latest hours on this list; the 5th Avenue North store is open to 5 a.m.

Tijuana Flats, three restaurants. A Florida Tex-Mex chain open from 10:30 a.m. every day.

Wicked Cantina, 3650 Tyrone Blvd. N. A Tex-Mex and margarita restaurant with sister restaurants on Anna Maria Island and in Sarasota. Its St. Pete restaurant is closed Monday and says it has full parking.

Places we could not check online. Jimmy’s Tacos, Poppo’s Taqueria, Qdoba and Torchy’s Tacos all hold current state food licenses at the addresses above; we found no website for Jimmy’s, and the others’ pages would not load. Call before you go.

How many Casita Taqueria locations are in St. Pete?

Three: 2663 Central Ave., 2701 4th St. N and 2991 66th St. N. All three are closed Sunday, by Casita’s own site.

Is there Tex-Mex in St. Petersburg?
