The SHINE Mural Festival returns Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026, the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance says. Each year invited artists paint new large-scale murals on walls downtown and in the arts districts. SHINE has added nearly 200 murals to the city since 2015, and the City of St. Petersburg bills it as St. Pete’s annual, international mural festival.

The 2026 dates

The Arts Alliance’s SHINE page, updated in September, says the festival returns Nov. 6-15, 2026. An earlier entry on the Arts Alliance’s events calendar gave Nov. 8-17 and called 2026 the festival’s 12th year, with large-scale murals and special events. The Arts Alliance had not posted a day-by-day schedule of the 2026 artists, walls or special events when we checked. We will add them here when it does.

What SHINE is

SHINE uses the city’s walls and streets as its canvas, the Arts Alliance says, turning shared spaces into an outdoor gallery of work by local, national and international artists. The festival is curated by invitation only. Its stated aims are to revitalize areas, inspire dialogue and bring the community together through art in public spaces.

  • Murals so far: nearly 200 since 2015; the online SHINE mural directory lists 199, each with the artist and the year.
  • First of its kind: the Arts Alliance says SHINE was the first mural festival in the world with an accessible audio tour, and it uses PixelStix tags so you can pull up a mural’s details on your phone in front of the wall.

How to see the murals

The murals are on outdoor walls, so the festival is something you walk, bike or ride around, not a single gated site.

Watching the artists work

During the festival, new murals go up over several days, and the Arts Alliance says its budget goes to artists’ travel, paint and materials, the lifts the artists work from, and supporting events. Give the lifts and crews room, and stay out of any area that has been taped off around a wall.
