How admission works

Sanderlin is a district application program, with no zone. According to the district’s 2026-27 magnet guide:

  • The elementary IB program takes applicants from the “South of Ulmerton” application and transportation area, which covers St. Petersburg.
  • Sanderlin’s own fifth graders get feeder priority for its Middle Years Programme.
  • Families apply online through their Focus parent account. For 2027-28, the initial window is Jan. 5-15, 2027, and offers are accepted Feb. 10-19, 2027. Applications are randomized, so applying early does not help.

The magnet guide names Sanderlin one of the district’s Top Magnet Schools of Excellence in national Magnet Schools of America awards. The district’s South County Fair for magnet and fundamental programs is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Gibbs High.

The district’s Planning for Progress recommendations, up for a School Board vote at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, do not name Sanderlin.

Activities

The school’s website lists cross country and volleyball for middle school students.
